Uttarakhand: 2 extra lacking trekkers discovered lifeless, demise toll reaches 7; search on for remaining 2

Two extra members of an 11-strong trekking group, which had gone lacking have been discovered lifeless taking the demise toll to seven, whereas a search was underway for the remaining two, officers stated right here on Friday.

Two members of the group had been rescued alive on Thursday. They are injured and being handled in Harsil and Uttarkashi, an official stated.

They had gone lacking on a trek to Chitkul in Himachal Pradesh by way of Harsil in Uttarkashi.

Search and rescue groups from Uttarkashi noticed 5 our bodies of trekkers on Thursday, whereas two members of the group had been discovered lifeless by a rescue group in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarkashi district catastrophe administration officer Devendra Patwal stated.

A search is on for the 2 lacking members of the group on a conflict footing with the assistance of a helicopter, Colonel Rajendra Prasad of 9 Bihar Regiment stated.

The group consisting of eight trekkers — one from Delhi and the remaining from West Bengal — and three cooks went lacking on a trek to Chitkul not too long ago.

They had begun the trek from Harsil in Uttarkashi district on October 11 and had been to reach Chitkul by way of Lamkhaga go.

Members of the trekking group included Anita Rawat (38) from Delhi, Mithun Dari (31) from West Bengal, Tanmay Tiwari (30), Vikash Makal (33), Saurav Ghosh (34), Saviayan Das (28), Richard Mandal (30) and Suken Manjhi (43), all from Kolkata. The cooking workers have been recognized as Devendra (37), Gyan Chandra (33) and Upendra (32) all from Purola in Uttarkashi.
