Upon arrival in Pakistan, Navjot Singh Sidhu says Imran Khan is his ‘elder brother’

KARTARPUR: Expressing his gratitude to Prime Minister Imran Khan for facilitating Sikhs on the start anniversary of Guru Nanak, the founding father of Sikhism, and for the rousing welcome to him upon his arrival in Pakistan, distinguished Indian politician and former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu mentioned the premier is his “elder brother”.

Sidhu arrived in Pakistan at this time (Saturday) through the Kartarpur Corridor to participate within the annual commemoration of the start of Guru Nanak.

On behalf of PM Imran Khan, chief government officer of the Kartarpur Corridor Project Management Unit  welcomed Sidhu upon arrival in Pakistan.

Speaking on the event, Sidhu thanked the prime minister for the nice and cozy welcome.

In a tweet shared by Indian Express, Sidhu could be seen coming into Pakistan through Kartarpur Corridor. The former Indian cricketer-turned politician says, “He [PM Imran Khan] is my elder brother.”

Later, he visited Gurdwara Darbar Sahib and carried out spiritual rituals.

Prominent Indian politicians go to Gurdwara Sahib

On November 18, necessary Indian politicians, together with the Indian Punjab chief minister, visited the Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib, a day earlier than Gurpurab, which marks the start anniversary of Sikhism founder Baba Guru Nanak.

The Kartarpur Corridor, which hyperlinks Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Pakistan, the ultimate resting place of Sikhism founder Guru Nanak Dev, to Dera Baba Nanak shrine in Gurdaspur district, was reopened on Wednesday.

Pilgrimage to the Kartarpur Sahib gurdwara was suspended in March 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Indian Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi, alongside along with his ministers, had been a part of the primary delegation to go to the Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur.

Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (PSGPC) president Sardar Ameer Singh had greeted and acquired them on their arrival.
