UN mission: Pakistan Army soldier martyred in Central African Republic

RAWALPINDI: A Pakistan Army soldier embraced martyrdom whereas on obligation throughout a United Nations (UN) peacekeeping mission within the Central African Republic, confirmed the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Thursday.

In a press release, the navy’s media wing stated that the soldier, Hawaldar Shafiq, was laid to relaxation with full navy honours at his funeral held in Mian Chunnu, Pakistan.

The martyred soldier is survived by his spouse and three sons, stated ISPR. He joined the UN peacekeeping mission in February 2021, it added.

The ISPR stated 162 troopers have been martyred up to now whereas serving within the UN’s peacekeeping missions.
