Moscow has no heavy artillery techniques stationed near the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP), located near the frontline with Ukraine, Renat Karchaa, an adviser at Russia’s nationwide nuclear operator Rosenergoatom, mentioned on Thursday.
He was responding to International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director Mariano Grossi, who mentioned on Sunday that his group on the bottom had heard “the sound of more artillery fire taking place close to the ZNPP” yesterday.
The IAEA deployed a monitoring group to Europe’s greatest plant in September.
Karchaa dismissed Grossi’s declare as “ridiculous.” “Not a single long-range artillery system or a multiple rocket launcher is stationed close to the plant. That would be impossible,” Karchaa advised TASS information company. “Russia will never place the nuclear power plant in danger. Unlike Ukraine, we care about nuclear safety.”
Moscow has repeatedly accused Ukrainian forces of shelling the plant. Washington and Kiev, in the meantime, declare that Russian troops have used the ability as a “shield.”
Russian officers have maintained that navy personnel seen on the plant have been solely there to guard the ability.
The ZNPP was seized by Russian troopers shortly after Moscow launched its navy operation within the neighboring state almost a yr in the past. The Zaporozhye Region, along with three different former Ukrainian territories, ultimately turned part of Russia after holding a referendum on the matter in September. The plant has since been taken off the Ukrainian grid.
