Several countries notify the World Health Organization’s annual assembly that a new investing Covid 19 origins with revised terms of reference is needed.
After an international mission to China, earlier this year proved fruitless, the US and other countries have urged for a more in-depth examination into the pandemic’s roots.
In March, the @WHO issued a report written jointly with Chinese scientists on the origins of #COVID19, saying the chances of it having started in a lab were "extremely unlikely"https://t.co/p6UIhQeEY2

Representatives from numerous countries spoke at the World Health Organization’s major annual gathering of member states in Geneva, emphasizing the importance of continuing to uncover the puzzle of how Covid-19 originally spread among people. We emphasize the significance of a thorough, expert-led investing Covid 19 origins. Jeremy Konyndyk, a US official, addressed the meeting on Tuesday
Other countries that have called for more movement on the investing Covid 19 origins include Australia, Japan, and Portugal, while the British representative encouraged any investigation to be “timely, expert-driven, and anchored in sound research.”
How is this evaluation done?
It’s critical to figure out how the virus that causes Covid-19 got started in order to prevent future outbreaks.
However, a long-delayed assessment by an international team of experts dispatched to Wuhan and their Chinese counterparts came to no strong conclusions about the pandemic’s origins. Rather, they ranked a set of possibilities based on how plausible they thought they were.
The most plausible scenario, according to the research, is for the virus to leap from bats to humans via an intermediary animal, whereas a theory involving the virus leaking from a laboratory is “very unlikely.”
However, once the report was issued, WHO Director-General TedrosAdhanomGhebreyesus stated that all possibilities were still on the table. The study and findings have also been chastised for a lack of transparency and access, as well as for not thoroughly examining the lab-leak idea.
There had been requests for the WHA, which has the authority to redefine the investigation’s objective, to decide the investigation’s future steps.
One cause of concern is the investigation’s terms of reference, which were discussed with Beijing at the World Health Assembly last May and specified that the objective was to determine the virus’s “zoonotic” – or animal – origins.
Xavier Becerra, the US Secretary of Health and Human Services, welcomed the proposal for new terms of reference. Phase 2 of the investigation of the Covid origin must begin with transparent, science-based terms of reference that provide international specialists with the independence to fully analyze the virus’s source and early stages of the outbreak, he said the assembly.
However, there are no resolutions on the way forward on the agenda due to diplomatic sensitivities. The goal of the investigation is not to assign guilt but to determine the source of the virus and epidemics, as well as to help us all avert future worldwide disasters, according to Konyndyk.
A long struggle is on the way
It seems that the world should be ready for a long period of struggle against the corona epidemic. In this fight, an effective, safe and available vaccine is just one of the tools to fight the epidemic.
It is clear that it is the duty of governments to protect citizens from the economic, social and human risks of this epidemic through long-term planning. Many people, especially the vulnerable and low-income groups, have been severely affected by the Corona epidemic so far, and many have lost their lives.
Some countries have provided extensive social financial support to their citizens during this period to reduce the effects of the epidemic. These countries, which have also succeeded in controlling the disease by relying on public trust capital, have benefited from transparent information and acceptable and enforceable guidelines for the public
In many countries, people have not yet received financial or social support or have received little help. In these countries, information has not been transparent and contradictory instructions have been sent to the community.
