Harry Kane plans on performing at his best for Germany

The England captain Harry Kane plan has yet to shine at Euro 2020 but dismissing him before the knockout rounds would be foolish.

Harry Kane is only good for one season. The only difference is that this has been the case every season since 2014-15. There are moments, such as now when the England captain is under a harsh spotlight and no one seems to remember the lessons of history when writing him off is extremely foolish. They have forgotten the lessons from a month ago when the Tottenham striker was awarded his third Premier League Golden Boot.

The best traits of Kane

It makes no difference to Kane. The commotion is meaningless. Harry Kane plan is unaffected by missing a chance or going through a dry spell like he is at Euro 2020 when England has yet to score a goal and has only had one shot on target. Because, unlike many centre-forwards, Kane is not a confident player, which is one of his best qualities.

Kane simply believes in his approach, his processes, and his ability to repeat what he has done hundreds of times. It’s always worked for him, and it’ll keep working for him. So, before Tuesday’s last-16 clash against Germany at Wembley — a potentially career-defining showpiece – we only saw Kane under a picnic table canopy at St George’s Park, sheltering from the drizzle. The confidence was easy to come by, natural, and reassuring.

“It’s certainly not the first time people have questioned me in my career,” HarryKane says. That is a necessary component of the process. As a striker, I’ve always stated that you go through periods where you score every game and everything you touch turns into goals, and then there are times when things don’t go your way… and that’s most likely how this tournament has gone thus far. People have a proclivity for changing their thoughts.

How was Kane playing in the current game?

It wasn’t long ago that I won the Golden Boot and everyone thought I was the best player on the planet. You can’t go too high or too low; all you need is a balanced mode. Self-confidence is crucial, and I’ve always believed in myself. I might go 10, 15, games without scoring, but if you give me a chance, I’ll take it.”

Kane struggled in England’s first two group games, a 1-0 win over Croatia and a 0-0 draw with Scotland, and while he improved in the last one, a 1-0 win over the Czech Republic, he was still far from his best. The leading scorer at the 2018 World Cup in Russia appears to be in desperate need of a goal, but he insists that it’s all about finding form when it matters most.

“It’s all about peaking at the right time, and in tournament football, the perfect time is the knockout stages,” HarryKane explains. “The first two games weren’t my greatest, and I definitely could have done better, but the third game made me feel a lot better. I was much more involved, not only with the ball but also without it… holding it up.
