Cristiano Ronaldo keen on his return to Manchester United

Manchester United is bringing Cristiano Ronaldo back to Old Trafford this summer.

Manchester United are reportedly interested in bringing Cristiano Ronaldo back to Old Trafford this summer, with the Portuguese superstar desperate to leave Juventus. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner is idolized at United after a six-year spell there that effectively catapulted him to stardom.

The Portuguese national team after Ronaldo’s arrival

Following his arrival from Sporting CP in 2003, the Portugal international flourished under Sir Alex Ferguson, scoring over 100 goals and leading the club to several Premier League titles and the 2008 Champions League.

Speculation linking Cristiano Ronaldo with a return to Old Trafford has been rife since his departure for Real Madrid in 2009, and it’s known that United fans’ dreams could be about to come true.

Italian News Agency report

The club is reportedly planning a summer transfer for the 36-year-old, who is rumored to be desperate to leave Juventus because he does not think the club’s goals fit his own, according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta Dello Sport.

With the Old Lady in financial trouble and Ronaldo’s exorbitant wages struggling to deliver the Champions League success they seek, the club is understood to be willing to sell for as little as £26 million – a number that would be music to United’s ears.

However, one statistic that will irritate United fans is his salary, which is higher than the £26 million transfer fee United will have to pay.

Is Cristiano Ronaldo willing to reduce his current salary?

Ronaldo is thought to raise £27 million a year (after taxes) at Juventus, a sum that would have to be halved if a transfer to United were a real possibility.

Despite speaking with his representative and super-agent Jorge Mendes last week about a possible move away from Juventus, Ronaldo is said to be unwilling to even consider lowering his current salary, meaning United fans’ dream of seeing him return to Old Trafford may still be a long way off.

Ronaldo is said to be interested in returning to Manchester United, where he won three Premier League titles and the Champions League during his time there.

Does Ronaldo want to reduce his demands?

According to the Italian newspaper Gazzetta Dello Sport, Mendes and Manchester United have made initial contact about a Ronaldo transfer. Since his departure in 2009, Manchester United has been involved in bringing the Portuguese back to Old Trafford.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is excited about the prospect of reuniting with a former teammate and is supposed to want to bring him in. Ronaldo is also willing to lower his salary demands, knowing that no club will be willing to fulfill his present demands.

According to reports, he is willing to accept a salary of €20 million per season in order to return to Old Trafford.

However, no agreement has been reached, and Mendes is still working to lay the groundwork for the transfer to take place this summer.

It’s worth noting that this football champion between 2003 and 2009, the Portuguese international became a legend at Old Trafford, winning his first Ballon d’Or and Champions League titles.
